Connectable Multimedia To The TV

Connectable Multimedia To The TV
Eventhough it is simple to mount a computer near the television set to be able to reproduce films or to listen to music, everybody does not have the time or the desire to do it. In that case, Mvix the Player Multimedia can be a good option.

This will allow you to reproduce video, audio and to see photographs, besides its ability to transmit the audio by means of an emitter FM, by which we could listen to it in our radio. It has outlets for Super Video and composite video, a remote port USB and remote control.

Its price is of 249 dollars, eventhough strangely it does not include hard disk, which we will have to add.........

Tools To Analyze Musical Expression

Tools To Analyze Musical Expression Emotiongram: Visualization of Emotional Content from Audio
Music expresses and elicits emotion. But how, exactly?

Philosophers have been fascinated by the question since Pythagoras. At the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, Elaine Chew, assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering, now teaches a graduate course on using computational and other engineering tools to look for answers.

Chew, who continues a career as a distinguished concert pianist in addition to her engineering research, has written an account of the issues in creating the course in an article that will be presented at an engineering conference later this year.

Meanwhile the students in "Computational Modeling of Expressive Performance" presented their results May 3, a collection of 10 projects now up on the class website as what Chew calls a "non-peer reviewed publication" at http://www-scf.usc.edu/~ise575/b/projects.

The projects from the class, offered for only the fourth time this Spring, range widely. Arpi Mardirossian found a trove of silent movie scores specially written to evoke specific emotions, and analyzed their characteristics.

For "Analysis of Dynamic Shaping in Unaccompanied Bach," student Eric Cheng created intricate graphs comparing, note-by-note, performances of a Bach unaccompanied violin sonata by three master violinists: Jascha Heifetz, Yehudi Menuhin, and Nathan Milstein, with respect to their dynamic shaping, i.e. the nature and amount of sound intensity variation.........

The singer - who gained 50lbs during her first pregnancy has been highly stressed and the real cause of her hair fall may be her constant fretting about getting slim and developing a new look for her return to pop.

Remobeads, for a Spiritual TV Experience

Remobeads, for a Spiritual TV Experience
This is the first time we've come across a gadget with an ultimate blend of spirituality and technology. The 'Remobeads' is actually a television remote control with buttons in the form of small beads, each representing a single TV channel, allowing you to browse through the infinite channels your TV sports, along with melting down all your sins, as they promise (which we'll doubt, particularly while switching between channels late night).

Anyway, the glowing Remobeads, designed by Dima Komissarov are marked with channel numbers or logo and can even chant your favorite mantras if you want.........

MyCessPit

MyCessPit
Good lordy, the way MySpace is sometimes portrayed you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was hell on earth - sucking in the world's bogeymen like a black hole. This week's Economist reports that it's where paedophiles spend their lives grooming the underage, al-Qaeda communicate plans about world domination, Playboy recruit topless models and - prepare yourself - teenagers are rude about their teachers! Luckily, the advertising community are making themselves available to steer brands through this quagmire of filth.

David Cohen, a grand fromage at Universal McCann says he, "wouldn't be caught dead in that kind of environment". Mystifyingly, he goes onto say that when he does recommend it, he tells clients to stick to the bits that News Corporation have built and not to go anywhere near the, "unpredictable, user-generated, content". (Presumably because that's where the terrorists, paedophiles and Hugh Hefner hang out). Furthermore, Cohen says.

if he really, really, really has to use it, then he has negotiated a way for his clients to get out very quickly in case something unspeakable happens. "We can be out of there in a heartbeat", he says before going onto clarify that he actually means two days. (Nice one Dave, what could possibly happen in 48 hours on one of the world's largest networked communities). Anyway, that's much quicker than the normal two weeks it takes advertisers who have stumbled into MyCessPit without the expert guidance of Mr Cohen. Phew! Meanwhile, the tiny proportion of MySpace residents who aren't axe-wielding psychopaths go ahead organising political campaigns to stop legislation about immigration that they feel is a bit unfair. But, let's face it, they're probably up to something horribly, evil really. ;-).........

Kaleidescape Entertainment Server

Kaleidescape Entertainment Server
What really gets me is that when you click on a movie, it starts instantly where you want it to.....no fooling with a disk, no previews, no FBI warning. That's luxurious. Of course it's cool as hell to have your entire DVD collection organized by cover art, actors, genre, etc. Pick one of those films above and all the other covers will dance around for a moment, then show you the movies most like your pick.

The brawn behind all this is the Kaleidescape Entertainment Server with twelve 400 meg hard drives able to hold, and back up, 660 full res DVDs (or 6,000 CDs, and you can chain on more servers as needed). The brains is a reader that hooks via Internet to Kaleidescape's master database of cover art, categories, and the bookmarks that start the movie just so. Ethernet sends the goods to as a number of as 25 players around the boat. These babies are becoming quite popular on megayachts. Perfect accessory: a huge Crestron touch screen remote. The whole deal, preferably enjoyed on a sky lounge off the Italian Riviera, almost makes a guy want to be filthy rich.........
